Recently I was troubleshooting why scan files were ending up in the ErrorBigScan folder on my core server. The maximum .scn file that can be read in is 100MB, and finding scan files over that size is rare.

What I was able to identify is that the file was flooded with records relating to files that were being automatically backed up by Nero. Here is an example of the record data. In total the backed up files alone accounted for about two-thirds of the entire inventory record data.

Software – Package – (Path:C:\NERO AUTOBACKUP\20151008_150128_LOCAL AUTOBACKUP\C\DRIVERS\6300\INTEL GRAPHICS DRIVER 64BIT V8.15.10.2712 REV. A (4 JUN 2012)\GRAPHICS\HKCMD.EXE) – File Date =1438877184

To resolve this issue, I needed to add “\NERO AUTOBACKUP\” to the Inventory Setting folders to be excluded. Once this entire folder was excluded the inventory record data returned to its normal size after which I could then work with the on-site analysts to correctly setup the backup software for the user.
